"Untouched and Amazed"

It was cloudy all day and I really didn't think that their was going to be anything to shoot tonight. I was wrong, the clouds opened up, and WA LA! This was dynamic, and overwhelming because it just didn't stop. I though that at one point that the sun was down and it just kept bringing some great colors.

PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS TO SEE WHAT CAN HAPPEN IN A CHICAGO MINUTE!

It was awesome! Enjoy

Now things start to change. This as well as any of the other pictures in this series were not touched up at all. The sun went down, and then it turned to red. I was in the middle of making dinner and I though that I had seen the best of it. I was wrong, but dinner was great!

Awesome!!

With the white lights on the Merchandise Mart (left) and the blue neon on the apartment in the distance, this was a great break up of colors from the different shades in the Chicago sky. Thanks for stopping by!
Please click on all pictures because this size does it no justice.

Friday March 17th - St. Patricks Day eve in Chicago

This was a great St. Patrick's eve sunset. The first is a great picture with the reflection from the incoming Metra train tracks. Please feel free to click on any photo to enlarge them. If you would like to use any of these pictures, just provide a link back to Chicago Sunsets.

Northside reflection from a great sunset.

Reflection from the sunset on the downtown area on the building to the right of Boeing.

The following photographs are in a time line. Don't get bored, just look at this sunset happening. This is one of the best sets that I have taken since landing in Chicago with this view. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend and we are up for rent again on Blogexplosion.com-Bid Today!

Windy in the "Windy City"

41 degrees, feels like 30!

Well it is cloudy here and we had some great lighting strikes and rain last night.

It is so overcast here that the opportunity for pictures isn't happening. The National Weather Agency has issued severe wind advisories here in the city.

This is for Chicago, the "Windy City."

A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST /1 AM EST/ TONIGHT.

SUSTAINED WINDS OF UP TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED THROUGH LATE THIS EVENING.

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE 30 TO 40 MPH...OR GUSTS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 45 TO 57 MPH. WINDS OF THIS STRENGTH MAY CAUSE MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE WITHOUT EXTRA PRECAUTIONS. MOTORISTS IN HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES SHOULD USE CAUTION UNTIL WINDS SUBSIDE.

"Day and Night"

This post is long, but after you are done looking, please head over to "Saltwater Joy's" great photoblog where I loved the pictures. She was picked out of many and it is such a great blog that I had never seen before. Head on over and leave a comment that you just came from Chicago Sunsets, I am sure that they will be pleased.

O.k... This is a long one just to let you know. It is done over the hour of 5:30 to 6:30, Friday rush hour here in Chicago. Please open all these pictures when looking at them because the small middle column doesn't do them justice. Tomorrow the City of Chicago dyes the Chicago River green and I will have pictures of that as well. In the spirit of St. Patricks Day and the parade here tomorrow, the City starts there recognition of the "holiday" with the last 2 photographs. Those photo's were taken at 10:45 p.m. So, some sunsets pictures, a little bit of Chicago in your living room and some fun evening shots. Enjoy!

If you open up this picture, you can see Wells Ave in Chicago. Here you can also see the highrises that line the Western side of Lake Michigan. This shot is taken from my balcony, 37 floors from the ground. As a side note, in the spring and summer if you open this up, just past the steeple in the middle of the picture is where Wrigley Field is located.

Sears Tower and the rose colored glow from the sunset.

My neighborhood and the passing "El" (elevated) trains of Chicago.

In this picture that looks West, if you open it there is a rather large building on the left edge-- that is the United Center and home to the Chicago Bulls and the Blackhawks. I would like to note, of all the pictures I took for the sunset finish, I like this one for the reflection of the sun from the large puddle in the parking lot. (bottom middle)

The Metra Commuter Rail heading West.

A very warm sun to close out the day in the city.

In honor of St. Patricks Day and the parade tomorrow the buildings in the city show there support. This is the Merchandise Mart, Chicago, IL

(Please open for a larger view)
A little different at night, the Sears and the other office buildings lit in green.
Have a great weekend. Remember, please pay a visit to Saltwater Joy's and take part in the credit give away! Thanks for stopping by.

"Better late than never"

I guess that being late isn't such a bad thing from time to time. I was watching the clock for the 5 o'clock hour for the sunset because the skies were clear all day in Chicago. Prior to the 5 o'clock hour the phone rang and I was caught up and caught the end of the sunset...not a bad way to wrap up the week. Enjoy.

The last shot...Have a nice weekend...

"Timeline"

This is a collection of the changing sky in Chicago. Watch the clouds as the roll in from West to East and head over Lake Michigan.

Closer...

I love the string of lights that run ahead of the United Center.

Peeking sun and more lights...

Rolling clouds

Black and White

The clouds have covered the city and the sun is just about down. I hope that you enjoyed the different looks over the span of 25 minutes in Chicago...

Please click on any photo for a LARGER view.
Thank you for stopping by Chicago Sunsets!
